Amber Young | Football Proper Trainer

Amber joined Football Proper in the summer of 2007 after moving to Southern California from Bellingham, Washington.  With a passion for soccer, coaching, and kids she is excited about the mission of Football Proper and about getting involved with the Temecula area soccer community.  Currently, Amber is the Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach at Temecula Valley High School.  In her first season, Amber led the Golden Bears to a Southwestern League Championship and to the Quarterfinals of CIF

Amber’s coaching career started in 1994, while a junior in high school. She has coached both boys and girls club teams in Washington, both in Spokane and Bellingham. Recently she led her Boys ’92 team to P1, WSYSA’s top level of play. As the Ferndale High School Girls’ Varsity coach for seven years, her teams qualified for the playoffs six times and she was Coach of the Year twice. She also coached the JV boys’ team for four seasons. During the summers, Amber has coached and directed many different soccer camps including NBC Soccer Camp, FHS Youth Camp, WWU Elite Soccer Camp, and Football Proper Soccer Camp. Amber has her USSF “B” Coaching License and NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping Diploma.

As a player, Amber played club and school soccer through high school and was a part of the Washington State ODP program for four years, culminating with the state team in 1993. Following high school, she attended Whitworth College in Spokane, WA and was a four year starter earning numerous all-conference and all-region recognition. Voted team captain her senior year, she was also selected as the senior athlete of the year for the college.

Amber has been teaching high school math and PE for seven years at Ferndale High School. She recently completed her masters in Sport Management from the United States Sport Academy.
